Early stage researchers

One of the key features of COST is providing networking opportunities for early career investigators (refer to the COST Mission Statement COST 4152/11 (PDF, 23 kB)).

The definition of the term “early stage researchers” is based on the time that elapses between the date of the PhD/doctorate (or similar experience) and the date of involvement in the COST Action. If this time span is less than 8 years, a person fits the definition; of course, periods of career’s leave have to be added to the time span mentioned.

COST approved a specific strategy for early stage researchers:  COST doc. 295/09 (PDF 53 kB).

At each PROFOUND meeting an ESR meeting will take place. Ideas on activities can be shared and discussed, e.g.

  • Training schools
  • Mentoring lunch
  • STSMs
